From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Tuesday, December 5, 1939, p. 17:

Miss Betty Vinson and Mr. J. Frank Davis, son of Mrs. Margie Davis, 2825 Carter Street, were married at noon Tuesday at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. L. D. Vinson, 2235 Fifth Avenue.

Rev. J. Hoytt Boles, pastor of Hemphill Presbyterian Church, read the ceremony as the bridal party stood before an improvised altar of palms and white chrysanthemums lighted by white tapers.

Mr. Allen Rubottom sang "O Promise Me," as a prenuptial solo, accompanied by Mrs. Q'Zella Oliver Jeffus, who also played the wedding marches.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her cousin, Mr. Roy McKee of Dallas, wore a black velvet gown with long white gloves and a corsage of gardenias and lilies of the valley. Miss Willie Jewel McKee was her cousin's only attendant and Mr. Johnnie Byrd was best man. Miss McKee's gown was black velvet and her corsage was of white rosebuds.

After the ceremony, a reception was held. A large wedding cake flanked by white candles centered the dining table. Mrs. E. R. Tucker presided at the tea service and Miss Peggy Hacker attended the bride's book.

The couple left on a short trip, with the bride traveling in a Chinese tea suit with brown accessories and a mink coat. On their return, they will be at home at 2825 Carter Street.

Only relatives and close friends of the couple were present at the wedding and reception. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roy McKee of Dallas and Mrs. May Harrington of Tyler.
