Quintin Estell March 2, 1926 - October 25, 2008 SILVERTON - Quintin Estell, attorney and longtime resident of Silverton, passed away Saturday after a long illness. Quintin was born near Rob, North Dakota, to Theora and Anna Quinn Estell. He married Lois Mulcahy in 1955. Quintin moved to Portland in 1941 and enlisted in the Navy in 1943. He attended Vanport Extension Center and graduated from the University of Oregon Law School. He moved to Silverton in 1952 to practice law. He worked for the State of Oregon as an Assistant Attorney General for 21 years and later opened a private practice in Salem, retiring in 1999. Quintin joined the Silverton Lodge Masonic, and served several times as master of his lodge. He was Grand Master of Masons in Oregon in 1988-89. Quintin was devoted service to his community. He was a founding member of St. Edwards Episcopal Church in Silverton. He served on the Silverton Library Board, the planning commission, was president of the Silverton Historical Society, and for many years was chairman of the Silverton High School scholarship fund. Quintin received an honorary diploma from Silverton High School, and he got a kick out of suiting up in cap and gown for the ceremony. He and Lois were honored with the annual Lifetime Achievement Award for community service in 2001 by the Silverton Chamber of Commerce. Quintin was widely known for his delicious pancakes, which were loved by his family, by members of his church and by everyone who attended the First Sunday breakfasts at the Silverton Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included playing bridge, collecting and polishing rocks and collecting antiques. Quintin is survived by his wife, Lois; and his sister, Virginia Estell Davis; by his daughter, Mylrea and her husband, Ray Kreth, of Monroe, and their children Quintin and Veda Rose; by his son, Greg and his wife, Jayette Pettit, of Vancouver, Wash., and their children Alex, Bryce and Teagan. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 1, at St. Edward's Episcopal Church in Silverton. Donations can be made to the Silverton High School Scholarship Fund, to St. Edwards Episcopal Church, or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel.
