Son of Abram Vaught of Warren County, Va.

Private George W. Vaught mustered into Company K of the 34th Illinois Infantry at Ashmore Station, Illinois on September 7, 1861. He was wounded and discharged at St. Louis. (https://civilwar.illinoisgenweb.org/r050/034-k-in.html)

He married Almyra/Almira/Elmira E. Lee on December 24, 1866 in Wirt County.

He died sometime prior to March 21, 1907 when his widow, Alymra E., filed for a pension. However, he was still living February 7, 1904 when his son George died.
