April 30, 1839 is the birthday given to George on New York Registers of Civil War Soldiers. He was the only child born to Joseph and Maria (Veddar) Kent.

George's mother, Maria died the same year that she gave birth to him. She was just 26 years old. George's Father remarried the the same year to Maria's sister, Rachel. These events cause me to wonder if George's mother, Maria died in childbirth.

George enlisted in the Civil War on October 10, 1861. His rank was Corporal and his Regiment was the 100th Infantry.

He is also registered as married to Martha (Morian) Kent. George and Martha had three sons: Grant Earl, Clare E. and Frank M. Richard Kent.

On 1870 Census at age 31, George's occupation is listed as Druggist. 1880 Census shows him as a wagon maker. On 1900 Census, George is 61 years old his occupation is listed as Carpenter.

In 1910 George and Martha are living in Ellicott with Son, Clare. Martha died in 1912. George remained a widower for 9 years until his death in 1921 at age 82. He was laid to rest in the Kent family plot in Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.

NOTE: George was a "Union Soldier" during the Civil War.
