Claude G. Crumb, 96, of RD #1, Panama, died at 7 am Sunday (May 27, 1979) at this home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born Oct 29, 1882 in Niobe, the son of Chancey and Elia Kinsman Crumb. He was a retired tree farmer, working in Niobe for 62 years.
Crumb was a telegraph operator on the Erie Railroad for many years. A member of Niobe Baptist Church, he was a deacon emeritus of the church, and was a member of Niobe Grange.
Surviving are daughters, Frances Crumb, Niobe, Marian Goodrich, Panama, Clara DeRossett, Meadville, SC, Alice Crumb, Paintsville, NY and Emily Smith, Ashville; son, John Crumb, Marion, IN; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Rasor Crumb, Nov 8, 1971; son Donald Crumb, 1975 and a grandson, Dale Crumb in 1975.
The funeral will be at 2:30 pm Wednesday in Niobe Baptist Church. The Rev. Dale Welch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7-9 pm today in Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer. The family suggests memorials may be made to Niobe Baptist Church for mission work.
