In 1935, Polly graduated valedictorian of the Throckmorton High School class. In 1937, she married JT Brockman, and their first child, Donna Lou, was born before they moved to San Diego during the war years. Polly was a purchasing agent in a defense plant. Polly and JT's second child, Ethel, was born in La Jolla. Polly became Postmaster of the Murray Rural Route Station when the family moved back to Texas. She continued to work at Murray following the death of JT Brockman. Polly later married Ellis Hamilton in 1956, and they moved to the ranch west of Murray. They had two daughters, Mariann and Minnie Tom.
Polly was always a diligent and hard worker. After the death of Ellis Hamilton, Polly continued working and especially loved being with animals. She rediscovered her love for riding horses during her seventies while she was also learning to train stock dogs. Polly welcomed any opportunity to learn and broaden her knowledge. She was an avid and prolific reader. She had a tremendous love for nature, animals, and being outdoors. Her passion for life and the ability to find beauty in all situations endeared her to everyone.
A memorial service was held Friday, December 11th at 2:00 at the Murray United Methodist Church where Polly was a lifelong member.
