Born in Luzerne, she was a daughter of the former Dorothy Gilmore and the late Raymond Gunton. She graduated from Beaumont High School. She received a bachelor's degree from the Bloomsburg State Teachers College. She worked for the Tunkhannock School District as an elementary school teacher at Roslund Elementary School. She was a member of Noxen United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the choir and was secretary of the memorial fund. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of the PSEA.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Butts; and grandson, Kyle Denmon.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Ken; sons, Mark, Noxen; Rick, Beaumont; seven grandchildren; sister, Margaret Holmgren, Noxen; brother, John, Noxen; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Nulton Funeral Home, Route 309, Beaumont, with the Rev. Martin Bovee officiating. Private interment will be in Beaumont Cemetery.
