Herbert T. "Herb" Cary, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at the Humana Hospital Springfield.
Born in Granite City, Mr. Cary was the son of William Riley and Louella Pierce Cary.
He married Marie Johnston in 1858.
Mr. Cary owned and operated the Herb Cary Trucking Co. in Chatham for 40 years.
He moved to Springfield from Chatham in July of 1983.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; one daughter, Mrs. William (Arlene) Sowle of Springfield; four grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Ruth McCulley of Chatham; two nieces and four nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Staab Funeral Home with the Rev. David Babb officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
