Gladys was born on June 18, 1915 in Catawba County to the late Ellis Whitener and Lillie Mae Abernathy Whitener. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her entire family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Franklin Cline, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Ernie Lee Cline and wife Diane of Hickory, one sister, Eva Hildebran of Hickory and three grandchildren; Lee Cline and wife Zoe of Morganton, Timothy Cline and wife Rachel of Hickory and Roxanna Soots of Hickory. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Eliana, Ethan, Eden and Silas Cline and Josh Powell and two great great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
