Margaret J. “Maggie” Campbell, age 69 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her home after a very courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
Margaret was born August 28, 1946 in Ada, MN the daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Meyer) Arends of Perley, Minnesota. She attended school in Borup, MN, graduating from Borup High School in 1964. Following her education she moved to Fargo, ND where she was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company, which later became Beneficial Finance Company.
Margaret was united in marriage to Michael Hershey on November 29, 1969 in Ada, MN. The couple moved to Grafton, ND in July of 1970. She married John “Butch” Campbell on January 18, 1986 in Grafton, ND. She worked for Texgas Corporation for a time. She was employed at the Walsh County Courthouse for 30 years, first in the Walsh County Superintendent of Schools office, and later in the Walsh County Court which transitioned into the Walsh County District Court. She retired in July of 2011.
Maggie was an active member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Grafton, and was a past president of the Altar Society, had served on the church council and was also a Eucharistic Minister. Maggie was very devoted to her faith, and her faith kept her strong until she went to her eternal home with Jesus. She enjoyed volunteering at the Walsh County Food Pantry and was active on various committees at the church. She was also a member of the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel, especially to the east and west coasts to spend time with her sons and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marie; brother-in-law, Charley Olson, sister-in-law, Sue Arends and nephew, Kevin Swenson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
