Angels in heaven are rejoicing today as a new angel, Martha L. Ambrosius, dances into the gates of heaven at the age of 87 after passing away Wesley Village on December 6, 2015 at 7:40 p.m.

Martha was born on February 5, 1928 to James Arthur and Zelma Faler Gillette. She was raised in New Philadelphia and graduated from Bushnell High School. She married Lyle Duane Ambrosius in 1947 who preceded her in death on May 2, 2012.

She was also preceded by her parents, two children in infancy, brother Richard Gillette and two brother-in-laws.

Martha was a GTE telephone operator for 33 years, active in IBEW Local #51, a lifetime member of the VFW, a past member of the American Legion, BPW, and active in many volunteer organizations.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Sue (Gary) Ellis of Delavan; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters Patricia Grime and Beverly Tatham of Macomb and one brother, Robert (Elizabeth) Gillette of Danville, Iowa.

Martha had a contagious smile, a great sense of humor , and a genuine laugh enjoyed by all. She used and enjoyed them constantly. If you could not laugh around Martha, you could not laugh at all. She was/is loved and will be missed by all.

The family extends special thanks to the loyal and caring staff at Wesley Village for their genuine care of Martha over the last several years and McDonough District Hospital Hospice for their care over the last week.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Robert Greene officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to Wesley Village.
