Hershel Knighten of Auburndale died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at home. He was 54.Born in Cullman, Ala., on Dec. 12, 1946, he came to Auburndale from Winter Haven in 1987. He was the former owner and operator of Hershel Knighten Allstae Insurance Agency in Auburndale. He was a former member of the Auburndale Rotary Club and the Castmasters of Polk County. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Auburndale.He is survived by his wife, Beth Knighten; son, Wayne Knighten, Dunedin; daughter, Cheryl Arrington, Winter Haven; mother, Tilda Knighten, Winter Haven; brothers, Edsel Fields, Winter Haven, and Edward Knighten, Leesburg; sisters, Melba Hardy, Palm Beach Garden, and Rita Marelli, Lakeland; and four grandchildren.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Main St., Auburndale.
