Avenelle L. Burkey
Avenelle L. Burkey, 85, of Lima, died at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Putman County, to Frank and Emma Benroth Allgire. On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Ralph H. Burkey, who died in 1981.
Mrs. Burkey was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Columbian Chapter No. 339, Cincinnati.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Carolyn) Barnickel of Hamilton and Mrs. Tom (Arlene) Schneider of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Edward Allgire of Sullivan; two daughters [sisters], Elda Porter of Dayton and Mrs. Roger (Joan) Morris of Wylie, Texas; and three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Rev. Carl Hanser will officiate. Committal services will follow at 3 p.m. in Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati.
Friends may call 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to committal services Friday at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Chapel in Cincinnati.
