Obituary
Ida May, youngest daughter of Barnett and Thamson Wilson was born on June 15, 1874 near Earlham. She grew to womanhood there, and on November 25, 1896 was married to Joseph Rankin McBride. For twenty-one years they lived at Dexter, Iowa, then returned to Ida's birthplace, the Barnett Wilson farm. In 1945 she moved to the town of Earlham, Mr. McBride died in 1933.
Very quiet and retiring, Mrs. McBride devoted most of her life to her family in her own home where she found the interests dearest to her heart. It was an unselfish and busy life, rearing her children and willingly attending to their many needs till they were all grown.
About six months ago she was stricken with sickness and suffered intensely. She received kind and tender care from her children and friends during her sickness and answered the call of her Lord at the Garwood Nursing Home in Dexter on October 24, 1952; her age seventy-eight years and four months. She was a birthright member of the Friends church and the last remaining member of her parent's family.
Her home was open to all who cared to share it, and she was happiest when her family all came home to enjoy happy occasions together.
There were seven children in the McBride family, one of whom, Grace Houseman, preceded her mother in death. Those remaining are: Carrie Murray of Adel; Claude and Flossie of Earlham; Ruby Gibbons of Redfield; Myrtle Brennan of Carlisle; and Joseph of Oelwein. There are thirteen grandchildren. One, Allen Houseman, made his home with his Grandma after he lost his mother. There are seven great grandchildren. Besides these, Charles Coulter, now of Dexter, found a home with the family for many years.
