Alice was the first child of inventor and blacksmith John French and widow Jane Patience Wright, nee Histed, then on her second marriage. Alice married Thomas John Ragland, a bookkeeper and together they began to raise two children together, John Thomas, born 7/1891 and Mildred E., born 4/1895. But Alice died early in life at age 31 of cirrhosis of the liver. She was attended by Dr. Benno Bribach, her brother-in-law. Alice lies alone in Block 11 in an unmarked grave, although other family members are buried nearby in Block 2.
