***The birth date on this stone was previously misread and recorded incorrectly as 1859. The birth year, through the latest photo and viewing the stone, shows birth year very likely 1853 not 1859.
Mary's age in census is consistent for an approximate 1853 birth in the Chambers household: age 6 in 1860, age 16 in 1870; and as age 26 in 1880 Bryant household.
Once she was identified as a Chambers, some basic research showed her to be born about 1853 not 1859. A close evaluation, by several individuals, of a recent tombstone photo agreed that the year is 1853 and clearly the middle initial is a "J".
This individual was also misidentified in the book "The Quiet Legacy" Vol 1, p.94, by making her a Mary H. and the daughter of Isaac Jackson Bryant with a birth year of 1869.
Even though there is deterioration and lichen on the stone, it is our conclusion that this stone reads birth year 1853 and this is Mary J. Chambers Bryant.
