"James was the son of Elisha and Alida (Vanderheyden) Adams. He was baptized 4 Jun 1780 at Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church. James Adams's will was signed and dated July 1, 1818 and was recorded Aug 3, 1818 for the probate. The will was witnessed by David Allen and Jacob C. Lansing, and names his five children: Ann Alida, George Washington, Catherine Lansing, James Elisha, Elizabeth. He appointed Abraham L. Lansing and his brother Jacob E. Adams as executors. David Allen, James Reid and Jacob Lansing were witnesses."

James Adams is believed to be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, but it has not yet been confirmed.
