Grew up in LeRoy, Kansas. After marriage, moved to Idaho where he raised his family, and died in Pocatello, Idaho.

He was a very personal man and a friend to all who had any association with him. He retired from the Bannock County Highway Department at 59 years of age due to an early illness.
