Loretta Spangler Barton, known affectionately by her family and friends as "Betty," passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, in Athens, GA. She was born in Middlesboro, KY, on July 8, 1930, daughter of the late Lonzo and Lillie (Bailey) Spangler. She was a resident of Middlesboro for nearly 75 years. Betty relocated to Versailles, KY, in 2004, and ten years later, to Arnoldsville, GA, to be near her family. However, she always called Middlesboro home, and she never forgot the many friends who lived there.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William Harold Barton; her parents; her two brothers, Lloyd and Ray Spangler; her beloved sister, Ruby Spangler Barton; and her son-in-law, Dale Barnwell.
A memorial service will be held in Middlesboro at a later date.
