Jo Anne White was born November 10, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee. The only child of Marvin and Martha (King) Armstrong, she became a lovely young lady with a sweet and kind spirit. After graduation from Brinkley High School, she continued study at Memphis State University and Draughon’s Business College in Little Rock.

During her study at Draughon’s she met and fell in love with Harold White. They were married April 27, 1949 and settled in Brinkley, where they both worked at Armstrong’s Hardware Store. With a genuine heart of love, Jo Anne was totally devoted to the welfare of her family. She supported the children in all school activities. Whatever the task; band practice, late night study, school trips or selling fried pies for a Halloween Carnival, she gave her utmost.

Jo Anne loved young people and they were always welcome in her home day or night. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the laughter of young people as they sampled her food and by mealtime they were often not hungry or the “pork chops” were all gone. She took it all in stride, never fussed, and just smiled with a twinkle in her eye. With humor she often entertained the kids with a special rendition of “Mirror Mirror On the Wall" and other witty moments.

In early years Jo Anne was a member of the Cotillion Club and loved flowers, gardening, holidays and other special times with family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Brinkley first United Methodist Church. Blessed with a caregiver’s heart, she cared for her mother until her death and later for her husband, Harold as he faced the final days at their home. Through her own challenge of MS and the difficulty of movement; she remained loyal to continually standing by his bedside until his passing on September 13, 2005. After his death she continued to live independently until August of this year.

At the age of 85, Jo Anne passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
