MRS. STANCIL IS KILLED BY CIRCULAR SAW
Member Widely Known Family Meets with Tragic Death
Mrs. Gertie Stancill (sic), 52, widow of Martin Stancill (sic), died at a local hospital at 11:30 o'clock this morning as the result of being cut almost in two by a circular saw in a sawmill near Samuel chapel yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Stancil had gone to the sawmill to take lunch to her son, Fred Stancill (sic), while he had gone the boiler room she went to the pit to pick up some shingles. In leaning over she got to (sic) close to the saw and it caught in her wool sweater, jerking her against the teeth, causing them to rip off her right arm and cut through her back from the right shoulder to the left hip. The cut was so deep into the abdominal cavity that her lungs were punctured.
Mrs. Stancill (sic) sat up in a car while being driven to the hospital here. She lingered until 11:30 o'clock today.
Surviving are one son, Fred Stancill (sic); her mother, Mrs. W. A. Cornelius, of Walnut Grove; one brother, W. L. Cornelius, of Walnut Grove, three sisters, Mrs. John Camp, of Gadsden, Miss Ina Cornelius, of Walnut Grove, and Mrs. Will Chadwick, of Snead.
Funeral services will be held at Morton's Chapel Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock.
The body will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Camp tonight.
