Mrs. Edward H. Slade passed away at the
family home in the LaGrange neighbor-
hood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12
1917 at the age of 52 years, 3 months and
12 days.
Emma T. Dodge was born at Howett Hill,
New York on April 1, 1865 and grew to
womanhood in that locality.
On August 18, 1884, she was married to
Edward H. Slade of Baldwinville, New
York. The couple made their home in
that state until February 1890, when
they moved to Kansas, and had since
made their home south of Frankfort.
Eleven children were born to this union
three having preceded her in death.
those surviving are, Edwin C. Slade,
Limon, Colorado, Floyd Slade, Yukon,
Oklahoma, Mina M. Slade and Florence
E. Slade, Roy D. Slade, Blanche A. Slade,
Avis I. Slade and Lawrence E. Slade.
Besides her aged husband and children,
she is survived by several brothers and a
sister, who reside in New York state.
Mrs. Slade has been in feeble health for
about three years, but the disease did not
destroy her charm.
Funeral services were held by Reverend
G.M. West at the Presbyterian church at
2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, July 15.
Mrs. Slade’s remains were laid to rest in
Willow Hill Cemetery, Frankfort,Kansas.
