Much to the surprise off Quincy friends and relatives, Charles H. Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Higgins, of 630 ½ Oak. Street and Miss Mary Turner, daughter, of Mrs. Mary E. Turner, of Galesburg, we're married at Joliet, Ill., one week ago yesterday. Noth of the young people are well-known here.. The groom is in the employ of the Santa Fe Railway company as mechanical superintendent at La Junta, Colo.

Mr. Higgins went to Galesburg early last week, where he joined Miss Turner, the sweetheart of his boyhood, and together they went to Joliet, where they were wedded by Rev. Lent, of the Methodist church, going from there to Chicago, thence to Galesburg on Saturday and on Monday left for their, future home in La Junta.

Among those at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. R. W Martin, the former an old classmate of Mr. Higgins at the University of Illinois and a fellow member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He worked for several companies in Chattanooga, TN and Chicago as a chemist until his death.
