Due to the neglect of “Professional Genealogists” not checking the age of James Taylor on the 1850 census, they assumed that James Sullivan Taylor living next door to James Shell Taylor (1880 census Colorado Springs, El Paso, CO) was the son of James Shell Taylor and Abigail Wiley Colby, when he is actually the GRANDSON of James Shell Taylor. James/James F. Taylor was born in 1833, New York making him 17 years old on the 1850 census. According to Illinois marriage records, James F. Taylor married Martha J. Kelsey on 19 Jun 1853 in Kane co, Illinois. This matches the records my Aunt Alma gave me stating that James Sullivan Taylor’s parents were James F. Taylor and Martha J. Kelsey. They then are on the 1860 census for Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska Territory with 3 children (James S., Abbie, and Mattie); 1870 census in Omaha, Douglas, NB with 4 (Nellie being the last child and 3 years old). My research indicates that Martha J. Kelsey Taylor and Nellie died about 1871/2 and James F. Taylor remarried.
I'm not trying to sound "grumpy" as we all make mistakes, myself included; just trying to clarify the error with hopes that others will be correcting their trees. That's with a please and thanks.
