Mr. A. N. Clayton, Sr., one of the most prominent citizens of Tippah County, Miss., whose home was at Ripley, died last week aged about 80 years. He was a progressive, well-to-do farmer, fine business man and Christian gentleman, having been a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1873. Father of Prof. A. N. Clayton, Jr., who was once a teacher in the I. N. I here, also of Judge Claude Clayton, of Tupelo, besides seven other sons and one daughter. Was buried in the New Hope Cemetery, four miles south of Ripley, near his old home. [Note: He died April 3, 1922; burial was in the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery, Blue Mountain, Tippah County, Miss.] Source: The Vidette (Iuka, Miss.), April 13, 1922.
