MARY MAGDALENA BEYRINK 1909-2011
Mary Magdalena “Lena” Beyerink, 102, of Coon Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids.
Burial will be at Annunciation Cemetery in Coon Rapids.
Mary, daughter of Theodore and Caroline (Werner) Broich was born May 1, 1909, north of Dedham in Carroll County. The family later moved to Willey, where Lena attended school. After her schooling, she remained working at the family’s home and farm. On Sep. 28, 1926 Lena married Albert John Beyerink at St. Mary’s Church in Willey, they were blessed with seven children Louise, Evelyn, Alice, Darlene, Ralph, Ronnie and Paul. The family lived on a farm east of Willey where Lena worked as a homemaker. In 1941 they settled in rural Coon Rapids. After settling in Coon Rapids, Lena became an active member of Annunciation Church and Ladies Guild, helping to build the church and convent. She also enjoyed making quilts, fishing, playing cards, baking and crocheting. In 1965 Lena and Albert retired from farming and moved into the town of Coon Rapids. In 2006, she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids.
Lena is survived by her children; 23 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, in 1982; daughter Louise Behrens in 1971; brothers: Vince, John, Tony, Herbert, Frank, Mike and Alfred Broich; sisters: Clara Pudenz, Victoria Dorpinghaus and Caroline Broich; and sons in law: Clarence Gute, Carl Lengemann, Dale Lloyd and Virgil Behrens.
