Robert J. Oelschlager, 89, of Streator passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Sr. Laura Northcraft will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Bob’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Born April 25, 1926 in Dwight he was the son of Carl and Mary Agnes (Guyon) Oelschlager. He married Berverly R. Price on April 14, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Mary Ruth Sarti and a brother, Donald Oelschlager.
Born and raised in the Odell area he graduated from Dwight High School. He served in the United States Army during WW II in European Theatre of operations. He served with 60th Military Police Unit 757.

He worked for Streator Brickyard, Clow Drain Tile and Knoedler Manufacturing. He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and Sandy Ford Sportsmen’s Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching and following NASCAR. He also loved gardening and enjoyed his flowers. He enjoyed Sudoku and crosswords.
