In last week's issue of The Journal mention was made of the drowning of Mr. Edward M. Knapp near Destin. Monday, Dec., 26, 1910. The body was not found until Thursday, Jan. 5, 1911. It had come to the surface and floated near his home, where it was first seen and brought ashore by the loving hands of his wife, who was keeping a constant vigil for it along the beach. All other means had been exhausted and it became apparent that they must wait until the body should rise and float. The great privilege was given his wife of being the first to rescue the last earthly remains of him whom she so fondly loved from the maw of the hungry sea.

The remains were interred in the Destin cemetery by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. The services were conducted by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. The services were conducted by Alpha Lodge No. 172, F. & A. M., of Camp Walton, W. N. Hartgrove, W. M., officiating, Saturday, Jan. 7, 1911, at 4 o'clock p.m. The following facts were learned: Edward M. Knapp was born Aug. 14, 1871, in Alsey, Ill. He served in the third U. S. Vols. Engineers during the Spanish-American war. He had been a member of the U. S. Camp 220, W. O. W., of Omaha, Neb., for eight years. He was also a member of Island Lodge No. 56, F. & A. M. since August, 1908, and of Druid Lodge, A. O. U. W., of Omaha, Neb. He was a kind husband and father. He leaves a wife and two children, besides his father and mother and brothers and sisters.
