Son of George Grimes and Frances Cork. Was killed in action in France. The following was found on the internet site for the Deckerville library under their draft board site:

Was born in Speaker Township, August 14, 1888 son of George and Frances Grimes, attended the Speaker school. His occupation was farming. He was a Selective Service man and went from this county September 21, 1917. Was transferred to Camp McArthur. Texas, in October with the 32nd Division which afterwards became famous. He had three sisters and one brother: Annie, Emily and Jennie; Robert. He sailed for France February 5, 1918. It was during the battle of Argonne Forest, while assisting a wounded comrade, he was killed, October 11, 1918.
