David E. Barnes, 89, of Menominee, Michigan passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015, at home. He was born on July 24, 1926, to the late Arthur and Edith (Willett) Barnes in Kremmling, Colorado.

David graduated from Central High School in Madison, Wis. After high school he served his country in the United States Navy Medical Corps. during World War II. He then attended college at UW Madison receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree and went on to obtain his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Florida.

July 24, 1946 he married Joy Delight Sommerschield. David and Joy met in Florida while he was serving in the Navy during WWII. They three sons and one daughter. Their marriage ended in divorce.

On September 4, 1968, David married Lois Anderson in Gladstone, Michigan. He enjoyed all sports, his work in chemistry and traveling the world with his family. David moved to Sumatra in 1957 with Uniroyal Corp. He moved to Marinette,Wis. in 1965 and joined Ansul Chemical. He and his family returned to the Far East and started Ancom (Malaysia), an international division of Ansul. In 1973, Dave moved his family to Jakarta, Indonesia and joined with friends in numerous business ventures. Dave returned to the U.S. in 1993. Dave always made time for family because, for Dave, family came first.

David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lois; three daughters: Janet Tucker of Bell, Fla.; Jodi (David) Clark of Lansing, Mich and Linda (Mark) Pedersen of Green Bay, Wis; three sons: Mark (Terry) Barnes, Edward Barnes, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Scott (Linda) Barnes of Menominee, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois (Larry) Tuthill and Elaine (Jim) Guderyon, both of Madison, Wis.; nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.;In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David; three sisters; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28th from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. with Rev. Tom Lach officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar River Cemetery.
