Thomas R. Anders Sr., 91, Alexandria, passed away Tuesday November 10, 2015, at Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born May 25, 1924, in Water Street, Huntingdon County, son of Roy and Myrtle (Rousch) Anders. He married Mary Grace Caldwell on June 10, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his wife, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage; two daughters: Sharon Dick and husband, Larry, of Altoona and Debra Saussure and husband, Mark, of Alexandria; four sons: Thomas R. Jr. and wife, Cindy, Dennis and wife, Gail, William and wife, Kathy, and Ronald and wife, Amber, all of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of 12 children, having been preceded in death by three sisters: Jean A. Kooken, Patricia and Dorothy; and eight brothers: George E., Roy H., John V., Raymond B., James E., Donald L., Joseph W. and Jack.

Thomas was a 1942 graduate of Water Street High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

He retired as a painter in 1984 from Owens Corning Fiberglass, Huntingdon, after 38 years of service. He was a member of Water Street Lutheran Church and Tyrone Lodge, F&AM, and he enjoyed turkey hunting and woodworking.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Timothy Guyer. A Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m., and military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.

Committal will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
