Mellitta Schultz, 86, of Pierre, died on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at her home in Pierre.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Maryhouse Chapel in Pierre with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pierre with the Rev. James Douglas officiating.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mellitta Hull was born on April 20, 1919 in Pierre to Ergo and Elizabeth (Prescott) Hull.
She grew up and attended school in Onida. She lived in Onida until she married Norman Schultz on Nov. 26, 1938. They built a home in Milford Township of Sully County. In the fall of 1969 they moved their house into Onida, and Norman continued to farm. In 1981 they moved to Pierre and in November of 2000 Mellitta moved into ParkWood.
Mellitta was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years and she was also its president in 1970. She was also a member of the Eight et Forty Organization and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Mellitta especially enjoyed teaching Sunday school for more than 50 years.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Schultz and his wife Suzanna of Mitchell, Ross Schultz and his wife Connie of Dell Rapids, and Preston Schultz and his wife Mary Ann of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, one brother; one sister; several nieces and nephew; and special friends Rachel and Curt Pfeifle and many others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twin granddaughters, foster daughter Mary Jane Marshall Pipestem, two sisters and four brothers.
A memorial has been established in Mellitta's name. Memorials may be sent to 713 S. 10th St., Aberdeen, SD 57401.
