Thomas Costello, 46, Succumbs to Indigestion; Rites Monday Morn.

Thomas Costello, 46, member of the Board of Assessors of St. Clair County, died of acute indigestion at 9:45 o'clock last night in his home at 1201a State Street, East St. Louis. He had been ill for several weeks.
Costello was elected a member of the Board of Assessors in 1932 on the Democratic ticket. For more than a year he had been suffering from dropsy and in the last year he was forced to spend several weeks in a hospital as a result of an attack.
His term would have expired in 1938. His position will be filled by an appointment to be made later by the Board of Review.
The office of the Board of Review and the Board of Assessors will be closed Monday morning.
Mr. Costello, who was a steamfitter and hoisting engineer, was born in East St. Louis on October 17, 1888, a son of Edward and Margaret Costello, nee Canty, both natives of Ireland. His father resides at 1215 Cleveland Avenue, East St. Louis. His mother died several years ago. He married Miss Pearl Dafhney in East St. Louis in May 1925. She survives.
Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers: John, Daniel and Edward Costello and two sisters: Mrs. Catherine McGrath and Mrs. Nora Roberts, all of East St. Louis.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in East St. Louis.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning from the Burke Funeral Home, 3300 State Street to St. Joseph's Church. Rev. Thomas P. Driscoll, pastor, will sing the requiem high mass. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Members of the Board of Review and the Board of Assessors will be pallbearers.
