Darlene Mavis Hurlbert
(December 21, 1929 - November 21, 2015)

Darlene was born and raised in the Watertown South Dakota area. Right after high school she traveled two days by train to Portland Oregon to marry Dale Hurlbert. This was her first time away from Watertown. She and Dale raised 5 children while living in Oregon, Washington, and Montana.

Darlene was a loving wife, mother extraordinaire, and part time carpenter as they built or remodeled every home in which they lived. They enjoyed living in Leduc, Alberta for several years prior to retirement then spent the remaining years in the Phoenix, AZ area, Mesquite NV, and Spokane, WA. While her children were young she served as their Campfire leader and den mother for Cub Scouts. Her artistic side came out in playing piano and organ by ear, painting, sewing, and many crafts. Bingo, reading, puzzles, and card games were among her other favorite activities.

She is survived by her children: Sherry (Rudy) Suta of Bozeman, MT, Debbie Hurlbert of Spokane, WA, Larry Hurlbert of Seattle, WA, Doug (Kim) Hurlbert of Rathdrum, ID, and Randy Hurlbert of Spokane, WA. Plus 1 granddaughter, 4 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 4 great grandsons, 4 siblings (Verlaine Wagner of Tacoma, WA, Bonnie Moeller of Luverne, MN, Sharon Day of Rockville, IN, and Roger Benthin of Watertown, SD).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her sister, Shirley, and her parents, Fred and Elsie Benthin.
