She was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Don and Betsy Jane Jones Parkin. She eventually moved to Whistle Creek, Wyo., where she attended Byron High School. Jo Ann loved school and participated in theater, plays, marching band, and her favorite, cheerleading.
Throughout Jo Ann's life, she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings.
