AN AGED LADY DEAD.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Defebaugh Passes to
the other side.
In the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann
Defebaugh which occurred at the resi-
dence of her daughter, Mrs. P.W. Ake
in Williamsburg on Tuesday July 4
that town loses one of its oldest and best
known residents. Mrs. Defebaugh had
been confined to her room by reason of
ill-health for several months and for a
number of weeks was unable to leave her
bed. Her death due primarily to
the infirmities of old age she having
been born July 4 1824 so that she had
exactly completed her 75th year when
the summons came to exchange worlds.
She was the widow of the late James E.
Defebaugh at one time a leading mer-
chant of Williamsburg and was united
to him in marriage March 7 1848 living
with him happily until his death a
number of years ago. she was the
mother of seven children Mrs. Annie
Fulton of Marysville, Kansas Mrs.
Marion Ake of Williamsburg Mrs. Ella
Leland now deceased, James E editor
of the Timberman Chicago Mrs. Lizzie
Graves of DesMoines Iowa Edgar H
of Louisville Kentucky and Minerva
and Jessie and Belle both of whom died in
infancy. Her sister Mrs Hoke and son
with Misses Marion Fulton and Leland
and brother and Mr. Edgar Defebaugh
were with her when the end came. Her
son James E is at present in Europe.
The interment took place in the Presby-
terian cemetery at Williamsburg.
