Helen Laverne Roberts, 90, passed in peaceful slumber in Denver, Colorado on Thursday evening, September 1st, 2011.

The only child of Albert and Maude E. (Dye) Hughey, she was born April 14, 1921 in Hooker, Oklahoma. She grew up on a farm located just ouside Hardesty, Oklahoma. Helen attended school in Hardesty, graduating in 1939 with 9 of her fellow students. After graduation, Helen attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma for one year before marrying Dilmon Durrel "Dee" Roberts on December 20, 1940.

Helen grew up during the depression and the dust bowl days of the 1930's where she was taught self reliance and family values. She taught English for one year at the Hardesty School before she started raising a family of her own in Hardesty. Helen and Dee were involved in the Hardesty community and operated a grocery store there before they started farming and raising cattle. Helen was a gifted sales lady. She traveled the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles selling Linda Lee cosmetics and Copper Craft fine cook ware. After moving to Dodge City, Kansas in 1956, Helen began selling Fashion Two Twenty cosmetics. She soon became a top saleswoman and was offered a franchise for the distribution of Fashion Two Twenty products for the state of Colorado and parts of Wyoming. After establishing headquarters in Denver, Colorado in 1968, Helen and Dee built a strong franchise and sold it so they could enjoy retirement in 1986.

Helen was preceded in death by Dee, her husband of more than 47 years in February of 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Terry L. Roberts, and wife Mary of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Lonnie D. Roberts and wife, Sally of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Helen's life will be celebrated Wednesday morning, September 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon, Oklahoma. Interment beside her husband, Dee Roberts will follow in the Hooker Cemetery, Hooker, Oklahoma.
