The funeral for Agnes Petersen, 99, of Oakland will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elim Lutheran Church in Hooper.
She died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Oakland Heights in Oakland.
She was born Dec. 29, 1903, in rural Oakland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended North Argo School in rural Craig. She married Alvis M. Petersen on Sept. 8, 1926, at her parents home in Craig. The couple farmed in the Admah Community on the Petersen homestead. They retired from farming and moved to Uehling in 1980. Alvis died Feb. 15, 1990.
She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Hooper. She was a life member of the Women of the ELCA and served as organist at Elim for 45 years. She was also active in various clubs.
Survivors include: two daughters, Glennice (Mrs. Robert) Brelsford of Johnston, Iowa, Arlene Gerliep of Monson, Mass.; a son, Norman Petersen (and special friend Barbara Goldberg) of Uehling; a sister, Mildred Johnson of Omaha; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and a son-in-law.
The Rev. Robert C. Larson will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland and Monday at the church one hour prior to service. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swaburg Cemetery in Hooper.
Memorial may be made to Elim Lutheran Cemetery Association.
