Anton, the fourth son of Christopher by his marriage to Anna von Muhlinen, was born in 1639 and died in 1730 at the age of ninety-one years. He married Catherine Jenna, and after her death, in 1669, he married Susanna Lombach. He had seven sons and three daughters. He was Lord of Worb, Wikartswyl and Trimstein and held numerous public positions. The famous Christopher deGraffenried, Baron of Bernburg and Landgrave of Carolina, was a son of Anton by his first wife, further account, both of Christopher and of his father, Anton, will be found in pp 56-57 History of the de Graffenried Family - Thomas Pritchett DeGraffenried

He did not become lord of Worb until 1720. Anton had to buy the rule and land from his brother's, Kaspar von Graffenried's granddaughters, Barbara and Salome. This was only ten years before his death. His nephew Christopher von Graffenried II was the lord of Worb at the time Anton's son Christopher von Graffenried had gone to America. The portrait often attributed to the latter Christopher von Graffenried was painted in 1710, and is labeled "lord of Worb" on the back so is to be attributed to the cousin.

He then attempted to pass the rule to his grandson Franz Ludwig, skipping over his son Christopher von Graffenried. Christopher returned from America in 1713 and was not a lord of Worb until his father's, Anton's, death in 1730. Franz Ludwig was to be the lord of Worb but he either allowed his father to be co-ruler or sole ruler,. Christopher only had the right for about 10 years (1730-1740) as he was made a ward of the state in 1740, when Franz Ludwig once again became sole lord of Worb. During the time of Christopher's rule, Franz Ludwig had the neuschloss constructed (in 1734-1737) and moved into it while Christopher remained in the old castle/schloss.

So, sadly, we see history repeat itself, Anton had a troubled relationship with his son Christopher, and then we see Christopher likewise have a less than peaceful relationship with his son Franz Ludwig.

Anton's remains were removed in 1983 and are stored at the University of Bern. There are no longer any remains at the church at Worb. The entire burial area was dug up and all remains are stored at the University.
