Frank Larkin Ward passed away at his home near Valley Falls, Christmas morning at 5 o'clock. Mr. Ward had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Ward was born a mile south of Larkin, Feb. 4, 1877, being at the time of his death 67 years, 10 months, and 2 days old.
With the exception of 14 years spent in Western Kansas where he was manager of a telephone company, he has resided in Atchison county his entire life. Twenty years of that time he lived near here and only recently purchased a farm near Valley Falls.
His marriage to Miss Agnes Cruise took place Jan. 7, 1903, who with their daughters Miss Mateel Ward and Mrs. Frank Field, of Philadelphia, Pa., survive as do two grandchildren Michael Ward Field, 4 years old and Larry Francis Field, 2 years old.
A brother Harry Ward lives in Kansas City and another brother Rufus Ward, in Topeka.
Mr. Ward was a communicant of St. Ann's church in Effingham and also a member of the Modern Woodsman lodge.
Mr. Ward lived the faith he professed. He was a good husband, a kind father, and an honest man, who stood for the right. He will not only be missed by his relatives but by his neighbors and friends.
The Rosary was recited Wednesday night at the McAsey Funeral Home in Holton.
Father Paul officiated at the funeral services held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Ann's church. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.
Pall bearers were his nephews Chester Belden, Will Wagner, Otis, Andy, Glen, and Jake Eckert.
