Sweetwater - Elijah Bee Toler, retired farmer, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Simmons Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. He was 81.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Nazarene Church here with the Rev. W. O. Johnson and the Rev. L. R. Seago of Three Rivers, N.M. officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery with Patterson Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Toler was born Dec. 12, 1876 in Grant County, Ark. He was married in January, 1895 to Lillie Bell Orr in Lela, Ark.
Mr. Toler farmed in the Longworth community about 14 miles north of here before coming to Sweetwater two years ago.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, A. B. of Sweetwater and Elmon B. of Powell, Wyo.; four daughters, Mrs. Rachel B. Moorhead of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Mrs. Ollie E. Green of Mantomarr, N.M., Mrs. Ruth Gilliland of Abernathy and Mrs. Paulene Slemmons of Denver City; three half-brothers, Huell Brashears of Albuquerque, N.M., Tom Brashears and Bryan Brashears, both of the state of Washington; one half-sister, Mrs. Clara Butler of Lela, Ark.; 47 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren.
