Francis S. Lavendure, 76, died at 3:55 PM Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in his Lafayette residence. He had been in failing health the past two years, but death was unexpected. Born Oct. 7, 1924, at Cando, ND, he had lived in Lafayette since 1941. He and Marjorie L. Phillips were married in 1946, at Lafayette; she preceded him in death.

Mr. Lavendure worked at TRW Ross Gear Division for 23 years before his retirement. He was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church.

Surviving are three sons, Charles (Linda) Lavendure, Darrell (Katherine) Lavendure, and Dennis Lavendure, all of Lafayette; a sister, Alvina Couss of Cando, ND; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by nine sisters and two brothers.
