BENJAMIN DOBSON, 86, DIES
Portland Resident Delegate to First Republican Convention in Iowa.
An accident on March 22, when Benjamin Franklin Dobson sustained a fractured hip, was responsible for his death which occurred yesterday at the home of his son, Benjamin E. Dobson, 1642 Macadam street. Mr. Dobson, who was 86 years old, was a native of Illinois, but had lived in Oregon 33 years.
While a resident of Iowa about 50 years ago Mr. Dobson was a delegate to the first republican party convention and helped found the party in the state of Iowa.
In Oregon Mr. Dobson lived at several places, including Clackamas, Albany, Yaquina bay and Crabtree. He had been a resident of Portland three years. Four children survive and there are 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The children are: Charles E. Dobson of La Grande, Or., and Mrs. Emma Smith and Fred E. and Benjamin E. Dobson of Portland.
The body will be sent to Crabree, where interment will be made in the North Providence cemetery, where Mr. Dobson's wife, who died five years ago, was buried.
