James was a Sgt in the 317th Infantry, 80th Division, of the US Army. James was inducted into the Army on July 18, 1942.
He was killed in action January 25, 1945, WW II, (Battle of the Bulge), in Wiltz, Luxembourg.

The following information was submitted by Larry Dill, nephew of Sgt. Blevins:

"Sgt. James E. Blevins, service number 34334731, was the son of James A. and Catherine Blevins of Phil Campbell, Alabama. At the time of his entry into service, he had one living brother and four living sisters. Sgt. Blevins was a member of the 317th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division assigned to Patton's Third Army. After being wounded on September 2, 1944 in France, and being awarded a purple heart, he was hospitalized in England and then returned to his unit at the time of the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. He was reported MIA on January 25, 1945, and his status was later changed to KIA in February 1945 according to 80th ID records."
Additional email note by Larry:
"Although his first name was James, he was always called Ed due to the fact that his father, James Arthur Blevins, was the family possessor of “James.”
Ed Blevins died at the rather youthful age of 24, unmarried, and a faithful correspondent with his mother and father and sisters.
He died in Luxembourg on January 25, 1945, 10 days after his 24th birthday."
