Sweetwater - John Carson Calvert, 87, died Sunday in a Roscoe nursing home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with the Rev. Charles McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.

Mr. Calvert was born in Merkel and lived in Nolan County near Maryneal on a ranch until 1955. He moved to Jonesboro and lived there until retiring in 1985 when he moved to Roscoe.

He was a retired rancher and farmer and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Calvert of Roscoe; a daughter, Lanell Drake of Roscoe; a son, Jim Calvert of Marfa; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
