Mrs. Owen E. Bonner, 76, a resident of the Capitola community north of Sweetwater for many years, died about 9:30 p.m. Monday in Littlefield at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lota Hillbun.
Mrs. Bonner was born Louvicy Vernelle Admins on July 18, 1863 in Bell County, Texas, a daughter of Samuel and Malinda Adkins. She was married Dec. 8, 1880 to O. E. Bonner. Four children were born to the union, with three surviving. They are John S. Bonner of Bartlesville, Okla., Tee R. Bonner of Sweetwater, Mrs. Hillbun of Littlefield and Eula Pearl, deceased. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive.
She was a member of the Church of Christ for more than 60 years and with the late Mr. Bonner, who was a preacher, she was long known as a Christian influence in the community where she lived.
The body is to arrive late today on the Santa Fe to lie in state at Johnston Funeral Home until funeral services at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ. J. P. Crenshaw, minister of the church, is to conduct rites and Johnston will direct burial in the city cemetery.
