Funeral Services for Tom Shebeck a former resident of this county were held at the Goodwin funeral parlors in Washington county, and interment was made to Elm Grove cemetery at the county seat.

Mr. Shebeck committed suicide last Friday by hanging himself in a barn at his home in Johnson county near Hills, where he had lived for the past three years. Despondency over ill health is given as the cause of his suicide. For a number of years Mr. Shebeck was a resident of Washington, where he lived with his mother, Mrs. Catherine Shebeck, until her death five years ago. For two years, he worked on a farm north of Washington and then moved to Johnson county. He was born and reared on a farm southwest of Riverside.

He leaves four sisters and three brothers to mourn his tragic death, as follows: Mrs. Libbie Ramsey of Des Moines, Mrs. Elizabeth Eichler of Iowa City; Mrs. Harry Springmen of Washington, Joe Shebek of Iowa City; Frank Shebeck of Richmond; and John Shebeck who lives five miles south of Washington.
