Mr. Arens married Elizabeth J. Theisen on Oct. 9, 1954, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Center Line. He was a self-employed carpenter and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed tending his garden at home.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Anthony (Debra) Arens, Mary (Chuck) Gettig and Robert (Dee) Arens; grandchildren, Erin, Steven and Robert; and brother, Clement (Annelise) Arens. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Julia; and brother, Edward.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market St., Mount Clemens, with the Rev. Michael N. Cooney officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Ave., Mount Clemens. Additional visitation is 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or St. Peter Catholic Church.
