Obituary from unnamed newspaper in family records:

Samuel W. Lamb

Died, near Huntsville, Oct. 12, 1903, Samuel W. Lamb, son of William and Mary Lamb, aged 28 years. The funeral services were held Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., at the home of the parents. Rev. Mann preached from St. John, eleventh chapter. In a beautiful black casket lay our boy with his hands clasped together. Sad indeed was the visit of death, for it claimed the eldest son of the family. Death alone reveals the immortality of love and teaches us that after all heaven is not so far away. May the comforting grace of Jesus sustain the bereaved family, and may they all meet their loved one in heaven.

Dear Sam, we loved you so,

Why you have left us we cannot know,

Daytime and night wherever we go,

We miss our dear boy so.

Dear Sam, when the Master shall call,

we'll welcome the summons that comes to us all,

When our feet touch the waters so dark and cold,

And we catch our first glimpse of the city of gold.

If we keep our eyes fixed on the heavenly gate,

Shall we know you, we wonder, among the bright band.
