Alvin Curtis Black was born in Bristol, Florida on September 11, 1929 to Curtis and Blanche Black. Reared in a Christian home, he gave his life to Christ at a young age. Alvin served in the U.S Army during World War II. Later, he married Thelma Courtney and migrated to California where he lived for more than 50 years. Alvin passed away peacefully in Benicia, California, Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, two brothers Tim and Billie and three sisters Edna, Ruby, and Mabel. He is survived by two sons; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters; one aunt; special friends; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, March 10, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Strong & Jones Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida. A graveside service will begin 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 11 at the Southside Cemetery.
